Pam Neil grew up in a big family in the province of Saskatchewan in western Canada, where she spent her childhood visiting family farms, playing outdoors and loving the wild open prairies.

Her home is now in Edmonton, Alberta, with her husband, three children and two rescue cats, George & Ollie.

Pam's favourite pastimes include gardening in her yard and exploring the city's  beautiful river valley with her kids.

Pam has a successful career in communications and public relations and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She also has a Diploma in Radio & Television Arts and is an award-wining television producer.  Pam spent over a decade working at provincial and national education television stations.   She thrives on being curious, creative, and crafting inspirational and entertaining stories.

Pam believes that laughter and humour can spark interest in learning, especially when children read books!

The inspiration for her first book and its amusing title phrase "WET MY PLANTS" actually comes from a funny story.  Pam and her children were passing by a local flower shop that was celebrating the start of spring.  Displayed on the outdoor billboard sign was a silly message about how it was time to "wet your plants."  Everyone in the car had a good laugh and the pun quickly became a running joke in the family. It struck them so funny that it planted a seed in Pam's playful imagination - and she eventually turned her idea into the quirky book starring Poppy Snapdragon.

Poppy Snapdragon's Garden Adventures - WET MY PLANTS! is a delightful, amusing story to read and is sure to bring your family a smile, create a fun reason to go green, and help grow some ideas how to wet your own plants!

- George the Cat -

George the cat is Poppy's best friend always up for adventures in the book!  The inspiration behind the character is the real-life George the rescue cat that Pam and her family adopted from the Edmonton Humane Society.  He was a sick, scared and abandoned kitten that was nursed back to health with the help of excellent vets and a whole lot of love.

George enjoys spending time outdoors, playing in the flowers, eating grass, chasing flies and climbing trees! George is full of energy and also excels in chasing hair ties across the floor.  He likes to snuggle in with a good cuddle and gives his kisses with lots of licks.

George is always up to something fun and is probably off to his next adventure outside . . .
